What changes when I convert Kruti Dev to Unicode?
Legacy fonts store codes that need a particular font to look like Hindi or Nepali. Conversion rewrites those codes. Unicode stores the actual letters, so your text can be searched and read across devices. Mangal is a Unicode font, not another encoding.
Why does legacy output look like English characters?
The result editor shows raw, copyable codes. Install a licensed copy of the matching font, paste the result into Word and apply that font. Sharing those codes in WhatsApp will not make them display as Hindi.
How do I preserve English text and numbers?
Legacy letters and English letters can use the same codes. Wrap literal text in double brackets, for example [[Invoice 123]], to preserve it. Unmapped characters and paragraph breaks are retained. The brackets are removed from the result.
Can every document be converted without loss?
No. Fonts have ambiguous glyphs and variant encodings. This tool targets Kruti Dev 010, DevLys 010, Chanakya and Preeti. Review the result against the original. Different legacy sequences can produce the same Unicode text; converting back may use different codes.
